Abstract:
According to a metal recovery method, it is possible to recover with high efficiency metals (metal ions) contained in a solution by culturing red algae belonging to the order Cyanidiales in a solution wherein the cell concentration thereof has been brought to within a range of 106 to 1010 cells/ml and recovering the metal ions contained in the solution that have been absorbed by the red algae. In this case, preferably the solution that is used for culture of red algae in a solution is one that has been brought to a Cl concentration of less than 5 mM and/or to which acetic acid has been added. Moreover, a portion or all of the metal ions contained in the solution can be metal ions that have eluted from the metals contained as a solid in the solution. That is, it is possible to use bioleaching in order to cause the metals contained as a solid in the solution to elute as metal ions and then further recover the eluted metal ions.
