The metal secondary battery comprises a positive electrode active material layer, a negative electrode active material layer, and an electrolyte layer formed between the positive electrode active material layer and the negative electrode active material layer, the negative electrode active material layer contains MgH2, and the electrolyte layer contains an electrolytic solution containing an ionic fluid.
