To prevent a cable core from being damaged by forming a slit along a crest part, of a spirally corrugated metal sheath over one round and cutting the sheath after it is lifted and separated from the cable core partially.
A metal sheath is cut spirally along a crest part, 2 from one hole 5 to the other hole 5 by means of a machining tool such as an electric shear cutter and a sheath cutter, and a slit 6 is formed over one round, and at the same time, a band type rest part 7 is formed. Then, the band type rest part 7 is cut until its width dimension in the midway is locally reduced (to the dimension indicated by a mark B'), and a locally rigidity reduced part 10 is formed. By means of a machining tool such as a cutting nipper, the locally rigidity reduced part, 10 is lifted and separated from a cable core 1 locally so as to be deformed plastically. Then, the separated locally rigidity reduced part, 10 is cut by means of a cutting tool such as tin snips and an electric nipper. In this way, cutting in the axial direction can be accomplished without damaging the cable core 1.
