Abstract:
To provide a method of manufacturing an alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon capable of generating an alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon (an aromatic hydrocarbon obtained by substituting a hydrogen of an aromatic rig with a methyl group), at a high yield compared with a ratio for generating methane that is a by-product; to provide a method for manufacturing an alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon capable of generating a polysubstituted alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon (aromatic hydrocarbon in which each of two or more aromatic rings is substituted with a methyl group) at a high yield compared with the ratio at which methane that is a by-product is generated; to provide a catalyst used in the method for manufacturing these alkyl aromatic hydrocarbons.SOLUTION: A metal-supported catalyst for manufacturing an alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon is used for manufacturing an alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon having a methyl group from an aromatic hydrocarbon, carbon dioxide and hydrogen, the metal-supported catalyst for manufacturing the alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon has a support and a metal supported on the support, and the metal has at least two types of metals including Pt as a first metal and at least one type of metal selected from the group consisting of V, W, and Mo as a second metal.SELECTED DRAWING: None
