Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve aging resistance, to maintain elastic properties, to prevent the entrance of water into strand, and to enable the guarantee of mechanical linkage with a polyethylene sheath by a method in which a polyurethane layer and a thermoplastic polymer layer are provided in this order from the metal side, and a linkage layer is provided between them.
SOLUTION: A metal surface is coated at least with one polyurethane layer. For polyurethane, it is advantageous to coat the entire metal surface or the surface of each torsion element so that fundamentally the outside surface is to be the surface a cylinder of polyurethane. The merit of polyurethane is in that it coats metal well, for a complex surface like the torsion element, it penetrates to the core of a cable or a stretched wire. Hydrophobic polyurethane is used preferably. Polyurethane can stand an acidic aqueous solution, a basic aqueous solution or a salt aqueous solution, and hydrolysis, has good electric insulation, adheres to metal, and keeps constant flexibility at -65°C-+100°C.
