To provide a clamping pipe joint by which the high rigidity of a junction due to metal touch and the high sealing performance due to an O ring can be obtained and the back contamination due to the decay of accumulated liquid in a gap can be completely prevented without causing liquid accumulation even in a horizontally piped portion and a uncleanable gap.
There is provided a metal touch type clamping pipe joint in which joining end faces 11, 12 of pipes 1, 2 are allowed to abut against each other and the peripheries of joined flanges 1a, 2a are fastened by a clamp band 3 to join and fix the pipes 1, 2 to each other. In the metal touch type clamping pipe joint, an opened annular groove 4 is formed ranging from a side of a pipe inner peripheral surface 10 to a side of the joining end face 11 in an inner peripheral marginal part of the joining end of one pipe 1. The metal touch type clamping pipe joint includes an annular protruding marginal part 5 in an inner groove rim of the annular groove 4. An O ring 7, which has an outer ring diameter Φ1 larger than a diameter Φ3 of a peripheral groove rim and is circular in cross section, is fitted into an inside of the annular groove 4. With both the pipes 1, 2 joined together, a body of the O ring 7 compressed by the depressing contact of the joining end face 12 of the other pipe 2 is swollen toward an open portion 4a adjacent to an inner side of the pipe in the annular groove 4. An apical end of the swollen portion 7a is set at the same level with or at a slightly lower level than an inner peripheral surface 10 of the pipe.
