To crush irons or nonferrous metals constituting metal waste so as to separate them into respective materials not only to sort irons or nonferrous metals reduced in the content of impurities from a material to be crushed after crushing with high efficiency but also to recycle metals or nonferrous metals with high efficiency.
In this treatment method for metal waste, metal lumps 104 in the metal waste are sorted and impact force, friction force and twist force are applied to the metal lumps 104 in a waste treatment device 5 to crush the metal lumps. Metals are sorted from the crushed matter to be crushed. Irons 54 are sorted from the sorted metals by a magnetic sorter 53 and nonferrous metals are sorted from metals, from which irons 54 are sorted, by an eddy current sorter 56 to sort irons and nonferrous metals reduced in the content of impurities from the matter D to be crushed after crushing with high efficiency.
