Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain composite material providing characteristics of each fiber balancedly, by using short and long fibers at inner and outer parts respectively, in composite material in which metal is strengthened with reinforcing fiber.

CONSTITUTION: In composite material described above, short fiber or whisker is used in inner part of the material to allot thermal conductivity, electrical conductance, shock resistance and workability thereto. Long fiber or cloth is used in outer part to allot specific strength, specific modulus of elasticity thereto. Alumina fiber, silicon carbide fiber, etc. are used to fiber or cloth, and whisker such as silicon carbide, carbon is used to whisker. Reinforcing fiber is incorporated by about 5W50vol% and about 20W75vol% in inner part and outer part, respectively. Al, Mg, copper, Ni, etc., are used for matrix metal.
