Title:
METALLIC CORD AND COMPOSITE MADE UP OF THE SAME AND RUBBER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0782680
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a double-stranded metallic cord excellent in fatigue resistance compared to conventional metallic cords, also improved in corrosion resistance.

CONSTITUTION: The objective metallic cord based on the stranded structure: l(parallel)+1. In this metallic cord, the metallic filament 1 inherently representing the central wire is imparted with a fine wavy pattern as well as the characteristic pattern given by stranding; in its stranded mode with the other metallic filament 2, it is so designed that both the metallic filaments 1,2 be positioned so as to be alternate with each other in the longer direction of the cord. Thereby, the cord side wire having been a subject to be broken due to repeated bending is replaced by the twistless (torsionless) high-strength metallic filament 1, improving the fatigue resistance of the final cord. Besides, owing to the wavy pattern imparted on the metallic filament 1, spaces are secure between the metallic filaments 1 and 2, leading to improving the rubber covering rate and, therefore, the corrosion resistance of the final cord.
