PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic decoration layer rich in diverse design effect, by arranging a pattern like electrode under a base material and using this electrode as one electrode to form the density variation of a metallic decorating material corresponding to the pattern of the electrode by electrostatic painting.
CONSTITUTION: An electrode 2 of which the plane shape is a desired pattern such as a honeycomb like pattern formed by punching is arranged on a base plate 1 comprising an electric insulating body and a base material 3 is subsequently placed thereon. Next, a decorating material being a powdery or flaky metallic material or a powder mixture of a powdery resin and the metallic material is applied to the base material 2 by electrostatic painting. In this case, a pattern like electrode 2 is used as one electrode while the painting gun of a painting apparatus is used as other electrode to perform painting and a large amount of the metallic decorating material 4 is applied to the base material 3 at the part where the electrode 2 is present. Subsequently, a powdery resin 5 in scattered on the metallic decorating material 4 as a top coat and the whole is subjected to pressure heat treatment.
