Abstract:
To provide a flat gasket (10) and in particular a cylinder head gasket for use in internal combustion engines.
A flat gasket (10) includes at least one metallic base support (14) having at least one bead. The base support is made of steel comprising C of 0.50-1.30 wt %, Si of more than 2.00 wt% and 3.0 wt% or less, Mn of max. 3.0 wt %, P of max. 0.035 wt %, S of max. 0.035 wt %, and Cr of max. 2.0 wt %, with the steel having a microstructure of 50% or more bainite texture.
