To provide a metallic handle for a door that can deal with different thicknesses of a door end part, that can reduce mass of a handle member so as to be manufactured at a low cost, and that impairs no texture nor external appearance of the handle member.

The metallic handle for a door includes: a finger hooking part (34) having a hook-shaped cross section and consisting of a front crosspiece (341), a horizontal top piece (342) and a back piece (343); a door end surface contact part (33) having a depth tilted forward according as the lower part of the back piece (343) descends; and a back wall (35) suspended from the back of the door surface contact part (33) and abutting on the back surface (4) of the door. The door surface contact part (33) has a depth of a lower surface shorter than the depth of the horizontal top piece (342) and is flush from the front end of the lower surface toward the back wall (35). Nearly in the center in the depth direction of the lower surface, a hollow groove (331) is provided in the longitudinal direction.
