To provide a metallic material for plastic working which includes no environmental load substance such as a phosphoric acid or the like and on which a film which displays lubricity and seizure resistance equal to or more than that of a (phosphate+soap) film is formed and a useful method for manufacturing such metallic material.
This metallic material for plastic working is that on which s sulfate film is formed as a first layer on the surface of the base metal and also the film of a lime soap or the like is formed as a second layer on the first layer in the metallic material for plastic working in which a lubricating film is formed on the surface of base metal. When manufacturing such metallic material for plastic working, the film of the lime soap or the like is formed as the second layer on the first layer by bringing the base metal into contact with a liquid or solid soap or the like after forming the sulfate film on the surface of the base metal as the first layer by immersing the base metal in the water solution of hydrogen sulfate.
