PURPOSE: To provide a metallic sheet suitable for molding by embossing by applying a soln. of a specific alkaline metal salt on this metallic sheet, then drying the coating.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic sheet 1 is passed between two rolls 3 for coating. These rolls 3 are partly immersed into the soln. housed in a vessel 4. An aq. sodium phosphate soln., etc., which are selected from the salts of the alkaline metals selected from Li, Na and K and phosphoric acid anion and are chemically inert to metals are used for the soln. The metallic sheet 1 is uniformly coated with the films of the soln. of the alkaline metal salt described above at the time of passing between the rolls 3. The metallic sheet is dried by hot air in a furnace 9 to accelerate the evaporation of the solvent right thereafter. Oil for embossing is then applied on the metallic sheet. The aq. soln. preferably contains 10 to 100g/l salt described above and the salt is preferably deposited on the metallic sheet 1 at ≥10mg per 1m2 surface area.
