PURPOSE: To provide a new compd. having high stereoregularity, narrow range of mol.wt. and high mol.wt., and useful for a catalyst component of high mol.wt. polyolefine, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A new compd. of formula I [M1 is a metal of group IVb, Vb or VIb in the periodic table; R1 and R2 are each H, 1-10C alkyl, 1-10C alkoxy 6-10C aryl, or the like; R3 is H, halogen, (substd.) 1-10C alkyl or the like; R4-R10 are each R3 or the like; R11 is the group of formula II (R12 and R13 are each H, halogen, 1-10C alkyl, or the like; M2 is silicon, germanium or tin), etc.]. Dimethylsilanediyl bis(2-methyl-4,5-benzoindenyl)-zirconium dichloride is exemplified. Further, a compd. of formula I is obtained by reacting a compd. of formula III with a compd. of formula IV (X is halogen).
