PURPOSE: To make it possible to confirm whether a meter is normally operated, by providing a circuit for superposing and applying bias voltage to a meter driving means and moving the indicator of the meter from a stop position to a zero point display position by turning a main switch ON.
CONSTITUTION: When a main switch 7 is turned ON, only bias voltage is applied to the coil of a meter driving means 5 from a bias voltage applying circuit 6 when there is not car speed and the indicator 4 of a meter gradually moves to the zero point display position on a graduations panel from the stop position below the zero point display position on said graduations panel. Now, when a car is started, the output voltage of a frequency/voltage converter circuit 3 based on the detection signal proportional to the car speed from a pulse generator 2 is applied to the coil of the meter driving means 5 in a state superposed to bias voltage and the indicator 4 is driven in proportion to the car speed. By this method, the meter normally operates and it can be easily and accurately confirmed that a stand-by state was obtained.
