Abstract:
To provide a method and device for generating a mixed spatial/coefficient domain representation in which an HOA (Higher Order Ambisonics) signal has a spatial domain and a coefficient domain and the number of HOA signals can be varied from the coefficient domain representation.SOLUTION: An encoder is configured to: (30) separate a vector of a coefficient-domain signal into a vector D1 of a coefficient-domain signal with a certain constant number of HOA coefficients and a vector D2 of a coefficient-domain signal with a variable number of HOA coefficients; (31) convert the vector of the coefficient-domain signal with the constant number of HOA coefficients into a vector of a corresponding spatial domain signal so as to perform PCM encoding; (36) adaptively normalize the vector of the coefficient-domain signal with the variable number of HOA coefficients so as to perform PCM encoding in order to facilitate high-quality encoding without creating signal discontinuities; and (33) multiplex it with the vector of the spatial domain signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
