Abstract:

To provide a process for preparing a 2-hydroxy-4-substituted pyridine industrially and in high yield using a microbiological method.

In the process, Crabtreella microorganisms or a product obtained therefrom being capable of introducing a hydroxy group to the 2-position of the 4-substituted pyridine is exerted on a 4-substituted pyridine of the general formula (1) (wherein, R is a carbamoyl or hydroxyiminomethyl group) to produce the corresponding 2-hydroxy-4-substituted pyridine.
