Abstract:
PURPOSE:To accelerate the decomposition of polyethylene using a simple apparatus to thereby facilitate the disposal of it by irradiating it with specific ultraviolet rays under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene is irradiated with bright lines having the highest intensity in or ultraviolet rays having the peak of a continuous spectrum in a region of the wavelength of 300nm or lower at a temp. lower than its m.p. in the presence of oxygen.
