Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a process of oxidatively decomposing contaminants derived from toluenes, benzenes, dioxins, or a monocyclic or polycyclic aromatic compound such as polychlorinated biphenyls become efficient by enzyme reaction.SOLUTION: A method for making contaminants harmless includes aerating and/or stirring a mixture of an oxygenase-containing composition and an oily component containing contaminants in an aqueous medium which contains oxygen of an amount exceeding saturated dissolved oxygen concentration and in which at least a part of the oxygen exists as microbubbles.
