Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To additively manufacture with an additive manufacturing (AM) system a sub-component that has a locator element.SOLUTION: A control system of the AM system is used for positioning a first location of the locator element. A portion of another sub-component is selectively placed adjacently to the locator element on the basis of the positioning. Then, the second sub-component 20 is attached to the first sub-component 10 in a region so as to make a component 100, where the region is based on the positioning knowledge from the control system. A component comprises: a first sub-component 10 that has an AM locator element; and a second sub-component 20 attached to the first sub-component 10, where the locator element is attached to the second sub-component 20 within the same additive manufacturing build chamber as the first sub-component 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
