Abstract:

PURPOSE: In the adhesion between organic high-molecular-weight material and metal, a terpolymer of ethylene/vinyl acetate/vinyl alcohol in a specific proportion is used as an adhesive to increase adhesion, operability and productivity.

CONSTITUTION: (A) A terpolymer consisting of 60W92wt% of ethylene, 4W30wt% of vinyl acetate and 3W30wt% of vinyl alcohol is used as an adhesive to bond (B) an organic high-molecular-weight material such as fiber or powder of synthetic resin, mixture of different synthetic resin or mixture thereof with inorganic material and (C) a metal such as aluminum. The component A is produced by saponifying an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer in the presence of an alkali catalyst in a solvent such as alcohol, preferably to a saponification degree of 30W70%. The synthetic resin of component B is preferably polyamide or phenolic resin.

USE: Adhesive in form of film or powder.
