PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of adjusting work by disposing plural photodetecting elements by leaving spacings in the direction rectangular to the copying paper conveying direction of an exposure region, thereby performing the adjustment of an optical system.
CONSTITUTION: The image of an original at the time when the original passes over a scanning window 30 is formed on sheet-like copying paper 3 in an exposure region 11 by an optical system 31. In the system 31, the light from an exposure lamp 33 provided with a reflection mirror 32 is irradiated toward the window 30, and the light reflected from the original is irradiated to the region 11 through a reflection mirror 34, an in-mirror lens 35, and a reflection mirror 36. In adjusting the exposure in the region 11 and adjusting the optical axis of the system 31 with such electrostatic copier 1, a mimic guide plate 39 is mounted in place of a guide plate 37, and the adjustment work is carried out by the magnitude of the quantity of the light received by the photodetectors 39, 40 buried in the positions leaving a spacing in the direction perpendicular to the conveying direction of the paper 3.
