Abstract:

To prevent output characteristics and exhaust gas properties from being deteriorated caused by the change of the relative positions of a fuel injection pump and a fuel injection cam shaft, by dispensing with the change of the relational positions of them in order to adjust the ignition timing.

In a method for adjusting the injection timing of a fuel injection device 1 of an engine by using a plurality of lock jigs 2, a plurality of cylindrical holders provided with a first engaging part 11 to be engaged with a first locking part 8 and a second engaging part 12 to be engaged with a second locking part 9 and in which the phase differences between both engaging parts 11, 12 are different from one another are used as a plurality of locking jigs 2, a fuel injection camshaft 6 is locked on an input shaft 5 through one selected locking jig 2 in the specified state, and a fuel injection pump 4 is operated. When the specified adjusting condition is satisfied, the fuel injection cam shaft 6 is fixed to the input shaft 5 as it is by a fixing means 10, and then, the locking jig 2 is detached.
