Abstract:
PURPOSE: To adjust the pH of an aq. soln. of a high-molecular material to the desired value without causing lowering in the viscosity thereof, by using a high- molecular acid.
CONSTITUTION: In adjusting the pH of an aq. soln. of a high-molecular material (e.g. an aq. polysodium acrylate soln. having a pH of 8W9.5) used for cosmetics, wetting agent for massage, agent for wet pack, mucosa-protecting agent, etc. to 5.5W6.5 by the addition of an acid to moderate skin irritation, a high-molecular acid such as a (co)polymer of (meth)acrylic, maleic or citraconic acid is used.
