Abstract:

To provide the glossy ink jet medium coating compatible with an existing ink and realizing the efficient paper feed function of low friction coefficient.

An ink jet medium formed of a base and a coating containing a binder, a pigment and a low friction substance is used in one actual example of using a method for altering a friction coefficient of an ink jet medium. The low friction substance in the emulsified form is selected out of an wax, a simple organic polymer, a silicone polymer and a fluoro polymer. The binder is selected out of a group formed of a polyvinyl verthatate, a polyethylene, a polyvinyl alcohol, a polyvinyl pyrrolidone and a polyvinyl acetate, and occupies approximately 5-30% of the weight of the coating. Preferably a pigment is an alumina or a silica. In addition, a polyterfluoroethylene latex is used as a slip aid.
