PURPOSE: To enhance antiseptic and mold-preventing action without adversely affecting photographic performance b incorporating at least one of 3 kinds of specified compounds in the aqueous composition to be used for the silver halide photographic sensitive material.

CONSTITUTION: The photographic aqueous composition to be used for the silver halide photographic sensitive material contains at least one of the 3 kinds of specified compounds represented by formulae I-III in which R1 is H, -NR4R5,- CONR4R5, (alkyl, alkenyl, or aryl combined directly or through -O- or -CO-); R2 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, -CONR4R5, or a heterocyclic group; each of R3-R5 is H or alkyl, but one of R2 and R3 is H in formulae II and III, thus permitting antiseptic and mold-preventing action to be enhanced without exerting any adverse effect on photographic characteristics, such as sensitivity, gamma, fog, or storage stability.
