To obtain a good image in both cases of high magnification and low magnification by altering even the thickness of the flow of a sample soln. corresponding to the alteration of photographing magnification.
The light from a stroboscope 10 is incident on an aperture iris through a contact lens 12, a field lens 24 and a mirror 26 and condensed by a condenser lens 40 to be allowed to irradiate the small region where the sample soln. flows of the flat passage 44 of a flow cell 42. This light passes through a projection lens 94 or 96 through an object lens 90 and a mirror 92 to be photographed by a photographing means 114. The projection lenses 94, 96 are respectively set to one time and four times in magnification. When the sample soln. is photographed in low magnification, since the lenses are large in depth of field, even if the thickness of sample flow is large, focusing can be made within the range thereof. When the sample soln. is photographed in high magnification, since the lenses are small in depth of field, the thickness of the sample flow is reduced.
