Abstract:

To provide a method and an apparatus for artifact reduction in a CT system that are particularly useful for such a system having a wide bore shape and dimension.

In one aspect, a method for producing an image of an object (22) utilizing a computed tomography (CT) imaging system (10) includes a step for axially scanning the object utilizing the CT imaging system to obtain projection data of the object through an arcuate of > 180°. The method also includes a step for weighting the projection data according to projection location and pixel location of an image to be reconstructed and a step for reconstructing the image of the object utilizing the weighted projection data.
