PURPOSE: To stably burn with low NOx with excellent ignitability even when a burning load of a burner is reduced by adding exhaust gas toward secondary or tertiary air or the both at the time of a low load of the burner and obtaining a mean flowing velocity at a burner throat at a velocity equivalent to that at the time of a high load.
CONSTITUTION: Finely pulverized coal particles are circulated inside a flame stabilizer 2 provided at an end of a burner, combustion air 7 is fed to a separate wind box 1, and split to be supplied to two channels for combustion secondary and tertiary airs 5, 4. The combustion air and exhaust gas channels are switched by a channel switching damper. When a burning load of the burner is lowered, combustion exhaust gas is mixed with the secondary or tertiary combustion air or the both without increasing oxygen partial pressure near the burner, and a mean flowing velocity of a burner throat is controlled to a velocity necessary to ignite at least finely pulverized coal flow.
