To provide a phosphorus-capturing method and apparatus which effectively separate and collect phosphorus compounds in water by combining a phosphorus scavenger and microorganisms.
The phosphorus-capturing method for collecting the phosphorus compounds in water by capturing and concentrating the phosphorus compounds by microorganisms includes the steps of releasing the captured and concentrated phosphorus compounds into water by heating at 50-100C, heating and adding thermophilic microorganisms, or an anaerobic digestion process, and separating and collecting released phosphoric acid from water by a phosphorus capturing member consisting of a recyclable phosphorus scavenger made by insolubilizing a Zr or Ti compound with a high molecular compound and a carrier which carries the scavenger, and has a hollow structure of a cross-sectional shape with a number of penetration holes. The penetration hole is formed in a shape of a triangle, a quadrangle, a hexagon, a circle, or the like. The hollow structure is made of a mesh body, a porous body, or a nonwoven fabric of metal, ceramics or synthetic resin.
