To provide a method and an apparatus for catching flying insect pests such as a mushroom fly damaging the growth of a mushroom in a site for cultivating the mushroom such as Lentinus edodes, Pholiota nameko or Flammulina veluptipes.
The method for catching insect pests comprises arranging a blower capable of arousing wind having amount and intensity which is sensible to the flying insect pest in a part of the culturing area of the mushroom, oppositely installing an insect-catching device such as that utilizing a light trap, utilizing an adhesive sheet or utilizing an attractant in the pathway of the blower and catching the flying insect pests with the insect-catching device by utilizing positive chemotaxis of the insect pests to the wind in cultivation of mushrooms.
