PURPOSE: To prevent buckling of solid metal zone and breakout without preheating the solid metal zone by using a mold so that cross sectional area at inner surface of a mold spreads toward casting direction.
CONSTITUTION: While supplying molten metal 3 into the cold composing cast slab 17 and the rotating type steel belt 10 at upper and lower surface of the mold and cooling copper plates 12 as movable toward width direction having linearly reverse tapered shape at side faces 2' and the solid metal zone 1 is continuously supplied from lower part of a molten metal holding vessel 13 on the lower belt 10 of the mold, to continuously cast the cladding metal material of the two layer clad. That is, the mold surface arranging the reverse taper is not fixed, so as to follow to variation of the cast slab dimension. By this method, difficulty of cast slab drawing and breakout developing by increasing the cast slab dimension in the mold caused by starting and completing of casting and the variation of casting speed and molten metal temp. are prevented, and casting can be stably executed.
