To provide a method and apparatus for cultivating plants capable of making peduncles hardly break and increasing cultivation density.
This method for cultivating plants comprises unevenly distributing planting places in sidewalls 60a, 61a and 62a on one side along the longitudinal direction when planting stocks in one row in long and slender cultivation containers 60-62, and growing peduncles toward sidewalls 60b, 61b and 62b on the opposite other side and growing to cross over the sidewalls 60b, 61b and 62b on the opposite other side. As a result of this, the sidewalls 60b, 61b and 62b on the other side can support peduncles near fruits, and load on the peduncles with the weight of fruits becomes small to suppress the break of the peduncles even without using a special auxiliary tool to support the peduncles. Furthermore, natural lighting is not blocked by plants adjacent to each other because of one row planting, unlike two-row planting.
