Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detoxify an organic halide at a high decomposition rate.
SOLUTION: An apparatus for decomposing an organic halide wherein thermal plasma is produced by irradiating a gas containing the organic halide with microwave so as to decompose the organic halide comprises a microwave cavity 25 for producing the plasma, a first container 21 for containing an alkaline solution for detoxifying a reaction product, a reactor 23 having a bottom end with an opening disposed in a state of being immersed in the alkaline solution, a discharge tube disposed in such a manner that a bottom end thereof reaches an interior of the reactor 23 and a top end thereof penetrates an interior of the microcavity 25 and a second container 25 connected to the discharge tube 24 via piping and containing the halide.
