To provide a method for defoaming paste which defoams the paste in a short time and can defoam a large amount of the paste at a time, and an apparatus for the method.

The paste is packed in a filling container 11 having lots of small holes or narrow slits in its bottom part, and while the container 11 is placed in a vacuum, air is supplied to discharge the paste from the holes or the slits. By connecting a paste container 12 to an application head H and pressurizing the defoamed paste in the container 12, the paste can be supplied directly from the container 12 to the head H for use. When the paste is passed through the holes or slits of the bottom part of the container 11, all bubbles larger than the diameters or widths of the holes or the slits are removed, and small bubbles which passed through the holes or the slits are introduced into the vacuum, so that vacuum-defoaming can be done in a relatively short time.
