Title:
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTING DEOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID AND RIBONUCLEIC ACID TYPE VIRAL GENOM IN BIO-CULTURE MEDIUM, ESPECIALLY, IN SERUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6368100
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
A sample of biological medium liable to be contaminated by viral particles is first of all treated to digest the nonviral DNA and RNA nucleic acids and to preserve the viral nucleic acids. The sample is then purified, if appropriate, for example by being passed through a cartridge (32) containing a gel for retaining the proteins present in the sample. The viral nucleic acids are then extracted and denatured in the presence of an extraction medium in a storage vessel (62). They are then collected and then detected by an appropriate process, for example by a colorimetric process. The invention makes it possible to carry out in a particularly simple manner the polyspecific detection of the viral genomes containing DNA and RNA, especially in biological media such as serum.
