Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect a relative positional relationship between an exciting coil and a magnetic field detector accurately by setting and adjusting an energization current value for inclination of a axis center line of the exciting coil within an inspection robot. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic field generated with a generator 5 is detected with a detector 3 to track the position of an inspection robot 2. An arithmetic device 15 computes and set an energization current value for coils 11 and 12 based on an angle of inclination of an axis center line Y-Y of the exciting coils 11 and 12 inputted from an angle meter 14. When a pipeline 1 on which the robot 2 runs is inclined downward in the ongoing direction, a current value of the coil 11 at a low position is set higher than the current value of the coil 12 at a higher position to compensate for an effect portion by the inclination of the axis center line so that a vertical component of a magnetic field intensity is down to zero at the position corresponding to a midpoint of both the coils. Thus when the zero point of the vertical component of the magnetic field intensity is detected with a detector 3, the position of the detector 3 given and the midpoint of both the coils are located on the same vertical line.
