PURPOSE: To enable early discovery of a water leak while permitting accurate detection of the position thereof, by running a leak detector within a sewer for draining spring water installed in order to prevent the floating of a water shielding layer.
CONSTITUTION: In a facility where a solution containing a poisonous pollutant is generated, to prevent underground permeation of the poisonous pollutant, a water shielding layer 2 is formed on an entire surface of a slope at a final disposal plant. A wear 3 is provided on the downstream side of the slope in order to block the collapse of trash 6 and furthermore, to prevent the floating of the water shielding layer 2 caused by the spring water, a sewer 4 for draining spring water is buried below the water shielding layer 2 in sticks so as to cover almost the entire area of the water shielding layer 2. When the content of the pollutant is detected in the spring water to secure the certainty of damage to the water shielding layer 2, a water leak detector 1 runs toward the upstream side from the downstream side within the sewer 4 to perform an inspection of water quality in the sewer 4 and the position of a leak is detected based on a video of the condition of an inflow as obtained with a monitor camera.
