Abstract:
PURPOSE: To determine the capacitance of tabacco to be charged without being limited by the level of compressing force by measuring force to be exerted from a test plunger, which is driven by a motor, upon tobacco and the length of a tobacco rod during compression and arithmetically processing the results together with other parameters. CONSTITUTION: A test plunger 8 is driven by a motor 18, the tobacco in a container, 30 is compressed, force loaded to the tobacco is measured by a force measuring instrument 12, and the length of the tobacco rod is measured by the moving distance of the test plunger. These force and distance are measured during compression and sent through an interface to a computer 44, the other parameter for determining the value of capacitance to be charged is determined by independent measurement and sent to the computer, and the capacitance to be charged is calculated by arithmetic processing.
