Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for the discrimination of a product wherein the type of the product can be judged simply and precisely irrespective of a delicate difference in the shape, a difference in the material of the product or the like.
SOLUTION: The product P as an inspection object is supported on a vibration damping jig 12 in a state that it can be freely vibrated. The product P is hit by an exciting hammer 15, and a vibration generated in the product P due to its hitting is measured by a detecting rod 18 and a vibration sensor 19. The measured vibration is input to a control computer 21, and a frequency distribution or a natural frequency which is inherent in the product P is analyzed by a frequency analysis. The result of the frequency analysis regarding the product P is compared and collated with data obtained by frequency- analyzing a known product in advance, and a difference from the known product or the type of the product P is discriminated.
