Abstract:
PURPOSE: To perform external appearance inspection of a disk-shaped magnetic recording medium such as a floppy disk or the like automatically and at a high speed.
CONSTITUTION: A disk-shaped magnetic recording medium which is being turned is irradiated, from a laser-projecting device 53, with a laser beam which is scanned at a high speed in the radial direction of said medium. The laser beam which has been reflected by said medium is converted into an electric output signal by means of a photodetector 54. Whether the appearance of the disk- shaped magnetic recording medium is good or not is distinguished on the basis of the output signal. Good media and defective media are discharged to separate places and sorted.
