PURPOSE: To obtain successive and efficient filling of a prescribed amount of liquid into small containers with simple equipments by filling liquid in plural pits, transferring a tray on which a plurality of containers are arranged, positioning and stopping the tray at a filling position, and filling the liquid into each of the containers through a nozzle.

CONSTITUTION: When a tray 46 carried on a moving transfer conveyor 41 is transferred in direction F up to a position under a pit block 4, a detector 45 detects out the approach of the tip end of the tray 46 and a stopper 43 of a stopping means 44 ascends. When the tip end of the tray 46 comes into contact with the stopper 43, each container 48 carried in each housing part 47 of the tray 46 is positioned just under each nozzle 7. Then a valve 20 opens to supply compressed air in a source 23 into a liquid receiving part 5 through a compressed air pipe 18 to compress pits 6, and the liquid in each of the pits is forced to drop down by a prescribed amount through the respective nozzles 7 into the respective containers 48. Thus, the prescribed and correctly adjusted amount of liquid is filled in each of the containers 48.
