To reduce the cost of constructing a disposal facility and enhance the efficiency of fixing a waste container by making the disposal facility compact, and rationalizing load design.
The fixing device 1 for radioactive waste includes a body shell 2; a rotating ball 3 rotating about the center G of the body shell 2 along the inner peripheral surface of the body shell 2 such that both ends of the ball are opposite each other across the center G; a container retaining device 12 moving on and along a movement rail 18 provided on the rotating ball 3; a retaining part 20 provided in the container retaining device 12 for retaining the waste container 13; a rotary drive 17 for rotating the retaining part 20 so that the placed surface of the waste container 13 retained by the retaining part 20 is approximately parallel to a placement surface; and a waste pusher cylinder 23 for fixing the placed surface of the waste container 13 on the placement surface by pushing out the rotated retaining part 20 in a direction approximately perpendicular to a plane containing a cylinder cross section, to release the waste container 13 from the retaining part 20.
