To provide a recording medium which is resistant to scumming by ink and keeps good ink adhesion to an image part.
With the use of the recording medium in which a recording layer containing a member (F-material) exhibiting a setback contact angle with liquid decreased when heated/cooled and a member (S-material) having polyorganosiloxane structure exhibiting a setback contact angle recovered when heated independently dispersedly is formed on a substrate, the recording layer, while being contacted with the liquid, is heated at a temperature which is higher than the heat treatment temperature of a recording medium made of the F material alone and equal to or below the heat-resistant temperature of the substrate and cooled to make the entire surface of the recording layer compatible with ink. A latent image is formed in the treated recording layer by heating a place corresponding to a non-image part in air, and the ink is supplied to the latent image to make the ink adhere only to an image part.
