Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for generating additional information for error correction.
SOLUTION: In an error correction method for generating additional information using a parity check matrix wherein the number of 1 within a row and a column in a matrix with rows for a message word length (m) and columns for a code word length (n) is fixed, and all remaining elements are 0, the method includes a step of using a parity check matrix H and imparted message data S to calculate additional information (p), and in the calculation step, a row and column permutation method is used to generate a low-order triangular matrix form wherein the number of high-order triangular regions is 0 with respect to (k) columns from (n-m+1)th element of the parity check matrix. The generated parity check matrix is then used for calculating the additional information, thereby efficiently calculating the additional information in encoding using low-density parity check (LDPC).
