PURPOSE: To provide a method and an apparatus handling a web wound on a core by separating the web having a printed recording ember in a longitudinal direction.

CONSTITUTION: The apparatus 10 for handling a web comprises guides 29, 30. The guides 29, 30 advances adjacent webs W, W, W along different courses or a flat surface, tears the webs W, W, W at a weakening line and resultantly separates the web. Further, the apparatus 10 comprises a rewinder 12 for pulling the separated webs W, W, W and winding it in a rolled state. If the tearing is not easily executed along the weakening line, a knife for expediting separation of the web is prepared.
