To provide a method and an apparatus for ignition in a pulse-detonation engine in which a gas-fuel and a liquid-fuel generally having difficulty in effecting a detonation transition can be used as fuel.
The apparatus for ignition in a pulse-detonation engine comprises intake ports 13a, 13b which are provided opposite to each other and respectively communicate with a detonation pipe 3 to supply a premix composed of a fuel and an oxidative gas, oxidative-gas supply parts 7a, 7b for supplying the oxidative gas in the intake parts, fuel-injection parts 11a-11d for injecting fuel in the intake ports, and ignition plugs 9a, 9b to simultaneously ignite the premix in the intake ports. After the premix composed of the fuel and the oxidative gas is filled in the detonation pipe 3 and the opposing intake ports 13a, 13b, the premix is ignited simultaneously in the opposing intake ports. The produced combustion gas-jets are injected to the sides facing to each other into the detonation pipe to cause a collision between them in the detonation pipe, or form a swirl flame of the combustion gas.
