PURPOSE: To simplify an apparatus for inserting rods in the weft direction by enabling selective insertion of required rods in the weft direction with an inserter capable of divided insertion at plural positions corresponding to the inserting parts of the rods in the weft direction.

CONSTITUTION: A rod supporting surface of a rod inserter 15 for inserting rod groups 2 in the weft direction between rod groups in the warp direction is installed in a plane, intersecting the plane parallel to both rods in the warp direction and weft direction at right angles and including the rods in the weft direction and a rod magazine 17 for successively feeding the rod groups 2 in the weft direction for one cycle of a textile weave onto the rod supporting surface is additionally attached thereto. Push-rods for pressing and inserting the rods in the weft direction is divided to individually attach the aforementioned divided push-rods (20a) and (20b) to driving members (21a) and (21b). Thereby, required rods in the weft direction among the rods in the weft direction for one cycle are selectively inserted.
