To provide a method and an apparatus for inspecting a printing position which can obtain high reliability and can be realized, even when not only a positional display mark but also other mark than the display mark are adjacently existed so that the other mark is variable information.

The method for inspecting the printing position comprises: a mark detecting step of detecting the head position of other mark or the position display mark to output a trigger signal; an imaging step of inputting the trigger signal, imaging the other mark and the position display mark, and outputting an imaging signal; and a processing step of inputting the imaging signal, A/D converting the signal, generating the imaging image, deciding whether the other mark is included in a predetermined region 1 in the imaging image or included in a predetermined region 2, calculating the relative position of the position display mark and the working trace when the mark is included in the region 1, and calculating the relative position of the position display mark and the working trace in the predetermined region when the mark is included in the region 3. The apparatus for inspecting the printing position applied to the method is provided.
